This is a free preview of one of eight menus we designed to complement our classroom writer's notebook and writer's workshop routines. If your students find use with this sample from the set--The Italian Menu of Writing Ideas--then we invite you to consider purchasing our entire set of EIGHT RESTAURANT-THEMED WRITER'S CHOICE MENUS. The eight restaurant-themed menus are: Italian, Greek, Mexican, Russian, Australian, Japanese, Irish, and Indian.
Each day in class begins with our students doing ten minutes of uninterrupted writing in their writer's notebooks. Students are trained to come in with their own topics to explore, but we strategically provide scaffolding tools that help our students who are reluctant to come up with their own topics, or who need help in choosing topics that might become appropriate for longer pieces of writing for writer's workshop. These menus help students shape ideas that would be good for writer's workshop pieces for all three genres--narrative, expository, and argumentative.
We have actually created three tools we make available to our students to differentiate instruction during daily pre-writing and writer's notebook time as we prep for our writer's workshop routine. The other two are our WRITER'S NOTEBOOK BINGO CARDS and our 366 SACRED WRITING TIME SLIDES, and using these links will take you to our free preview of these two well-liked products we've been selling since 2011.
All three of these popular writer's notebook products can be purchased at a discounted rate if you choose to buy them with the following link: OUR WRITER'S NOTEBOOK BUNDLE.
