This lesson contains a slide show that teaches students how to break apart a topic/prompt. It provides the students and teacher with a graphic organizer and an acronym to help with planning their writing. The lesson contains six days of writing activities and follow-up ideas.
The lessons begin with examples of mentor texts for persuasive, informational and narrative writing. There are sample prompts for each genre of writing which are then broken down to show the students the steps they will need to follow when planning their own writing.
