Students are the teachers in this assignment, which serves as my grammar/writing instruction for my seniors in English 12 and in dual-credit English 12 and college Composition I. Students partner up and choose a topic to teach the rest of the class about. The mini-lessons are intended to be 10-15 minutes long with instruction and a short activity, and we start class with them on Wednesdays.
Topics are based on grades 11-12 Common Core grammar and writing concepts, though the topics are relevant across several grades, and you could easily replace them with your own and provide a little more guidance to younger students.
It’s an easy assignment for me to give, yet it’s an effective way for students to review certain grammar/writing concepts.
