Product Description
These task cards are for use with any short story or novel you read in your middle school classroom! There are 40 cards covering the following areas:

Plot
Characterization
Setting
Point of View
Theme
Symbolism
Types of Conflict
Style and Tone
Reader-Response (personal response)
Additional Literary Elements (metaphor, irony, personification)

I have left them single-sided so that there are enough for your whole class to have one at a time. If you choose to double-side them, you can mix them up and have kids work together, since you will have fewer to go around. It’s up to you!

I hope you find these useful for small group discussions, writing stations, individual work, etc. They can be used in many ways!

These are also great for differentiation in the classroom. They compliment my set for HS: Writing About Fiction for Grades 9-12
