I have put together all the types of possible thinking, writing, and talking that students in the upper grades do with their reading over the past few years. With the big push in writing about reading with the Common Core, this chart has made it extremely easy and explicit for students to see what types of thinking and writing that they can do about their reading. The level of my students writing about reading has dramatically increased due to the use of this chart. Also, their book club conversations have become a lot better. It is very helpful to use this chart along with the transitional words phrases chart and quoting the text chart.
