This fun writing download integrates five daily writing workshops with science. Kindergarten - 2nd grade students will study and explore the night sky and Groundhog Day.
Because these writing lessons typically fall right around Groundhog Day I have included a fun one day writing workshop that can be easily integrated into this weeks lessons or moved to another week.
This writing packet includes five days of complete writing lessons and activities. All the templates and instructions are included in this download.
Day 1: Students will learn about the history of Groundhog Day and create their own unique piece of writing.
Days 2 - 3: Students will learn all about the sky during the day and the night. They will use the brainstorming chart that is included to list their observations from what they have read, seen, and experienced. They will then create their own writings and illustrations.
Day 4: Students will create and write about their own unique constellations.
Day 5: Students will learn about how the moon orbits the Earth. After reading a book and participating in hands-on classroom activities your students will sit down and write about what they have learned.
Each days lessons includes detailed instructions, templates, and actual student writing samples to help with assessment.
