HS-F-IF.8. Write a function defined by an expression in different but equivalent forms to reveal and explain different properties of the function.
How to use: This activity is designed for students to work individually, in pairs, or small groups.
This activity is a wrap-around one, meaning you can start with any card. Students pick any card to begin with. Rewrite the equation into a piecewise function using the two evaluation rules and find the matching function on another card. They continue until they return to the original card.
You have 2 levels of difficulty, which is great for differentiation. Students can be given the domino set that meets their level of understanding. This can be done without their knowledge or by giving the students the option to pick the set they are comfortable with.
Interactive Bulletin Board Idea:
Version B comes in 2 sizes. The larger one is great for interactive bulletin boards. Place magnets on the back of these cards and place on your black board for students to work when they finish early.
