For students on IEPs that have writing goals, I usually give them this one page word list. We then write in high-interest words or word they use in their writing frequently. This is something I teach in group and then students keep this sheet in their writing folder or notebook in the general education classroom.
The second page is visuals for different stages of writing. For early writers, they need to see that you write with spaces in between words. For students working on that skill, I will have the laminated card in their writing folder and go over it with them whenever they write. I do the same with the capitals and period card. I just highlighted the beginning capital and end period (green for go, red for stop), rather than having a lot of descriptions that low readers won't be able to read. And lastly a card teaching each end mark, with an example so students remember what they are for. Enjoy!
