Product Description
This writing activity includes five screenshots from Peter Weir's 1981 film "Gallipoli," all showing examples of the dark "gallows humor" or "larrikinism" employed by ANZAC troops fighting in Gallipoli, Turkey, in 1915. This document was used to elicit discussion from students about the role of humor as a survival mechanism for soldiers, and it can be used for a "launch pad" or "spring board" to essay planning.

This could be used for the high school English classroom, which employed "Gallipoli" as a film text, or the high school history classroom.
