Writing Algebraic Expressions from Word Descriptions
Search and Shade with Math Tips
Student are asked to write an expression (2n-12) from a word description (twelve less than double an unknown number).
Enjoy this worksheet based on the Search n Shade concept from Patricia Wright (used with permission) updated with math tips and Common Core alignment. A key is included along with a version without a border to save ink.
Work each problem. Then search for the answer on the grid. Shade each square containing the answer to look like the small square or circle next to the problem. If the grid is shaded correctly, a pleasing design emerges. Students can even creatively color the design.
