Use this presentation to support your instruction with Project Read’s Framing Your Thoughts, Sentence Structure, Unit 1.

Teach your students how to write a bare bone sentence, and then give them lots of practice creating their own bare bone sentences. Simply project the photographs and illustrations provided in this presentation. First, provide direct instruction, then independent practice. We have students write their sentences on either white boards or lined paper, or sometimes we simply practice creating sentences or identifying possible subjects and predicates verbally. Once students know how to write a bare bone sentence, project a slide as a "Do Now" or "Warm Up" activity.
