The “Writing Book Reviews” activity packet includes posters that identify the elements of a book review as well as the success criteria for a book review. This packet also includes organizers to write a rough draft of a book review which are a wonderful tool to help students practice writing book reviews. Finally, this packet includes sample book reviews that students can use as an example and to even critique (i.e., what could be added to the review to make it better?)
Students are encouraged to write a book review based on a picture book, a non-fiction book or a chapter book they have read. The graphic organizers presented in this packet help students to organize their thoughts so when they type out their book review, they can ensure they have all of the required elements of a book review.
This activity packet is suggested for students in Grades 3 and above because of the writing it requires. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.
