Did you know that opening a jar of pizza sauce can be more healthy for you than running on a treadmill for two hours? Well- it's true and it's BREAKING NEWS! It seems today that everything reported is "Breaking News!" or it's a "Top Story!" or it's a "Developing Story!". All you have to do is to read the scrolling message on the bottom of the television screen to see this.
The purpose of this activity is to engage your students by having them write their own “Breaking News” stories that may just shock the entire world. The Student Guideline handout will walk your students through the process of coming up with some far-fetched "Breaking News" stories where they have to include some actual facts also.
