This "Take-a-Topic" Interactive Writing Bulletin Board will help your students come up with writing ideas.Your kids will never have the excuse again that goes like this....."I don't know what to write about!"....And if they do, you will say, "Go Take a Topic!" :-)
Back to school or not........You can start this up any time of the year, even in the middle if you are looking for a way to get kids encouraged with writing. If you use this at the start of the year, it is sure to help you your kids become active writers from day one
This makes for a cute, colorful, interactive writing bulletin board.
This is an interactive (meaning they walk to the board and pick a topic) bulletin board used to keep kids actively writing whenever they get a chance. All too often we teachers tell kids to take out a book when they get extra time. Why not have them pick a topic to write about? Both are great activities when you get an extra 15 minutes.
This board can have lots of uses. You can use it as a writing center option. You could use it for kids to go take a topic each time they can't come up with one. You could have it available so that students always have an ongoing writing in their journal... they just get up, take a topic, and generate a new story based on a new topic.
**16 Chevron Pockets labeled with a topic
Topics included are: sports, dental, candy, weather, school, pirates, feelings, fishing, beach, zoo, aliens, detective, shopping, movie, birthday, and MIX IT UP (this includes 24 different topics in one pocket)
**For each pocket, there are 8 picture strips related to the topic. They use these pictures to generate a writing idea
**2 teacher direction sheets for you to display on the projector. These will help you explain how they use the strips to generate a story.
**writing themed border - copy, cut, laminate, and hang
**"Take a Topic" board title
**I also give specific instructions for how to use the board.
Of course, feel free to use these items in your classroom however you would like.
