Description

This writing center for primary students is perfect to help with writing and spelling. It includes a writing folder, alphabet line, themed words, writing clip chart and more to help with the writing process. Most kinders and firsties like to ask how to spell certain words. I don't spell for them, but I wouldn't have time to stop and spell every word anyways. I wanted them to be able to have a resource to check for themed word lists that would help them when writing. I created this writing folder that focuses on themed word lists and checking their sentence structure.

With this resource, you can create a writing folder for your students to house their completed and in progress work. There is a label provided for the cover of the folders. Inside of the folder, they will have an alphabet chart, number words, color words, digraphs list, themed word lists, writing checklist, personal dictionary pages, personal checklist for writing sentences, in progress/completed label for the pockets, space person for making spaces. I printed the spacemen at 70% to make them smaller.

The themed word lists will help your students focus more on writing than the actual spelling component when they feel confident in their writing when they have to write or want to write about a certain topic. They can word longer on their writing and spend less time on the actual spelling of difficult words. This is the only portion that will be added to. Here's what themes are currently included in the word lists:

school words

apple words

fall words

Thanksgiving words

2 pages of Christmas words

Winter words

February words

March words

Spring words

Summer words

Antarctic words

baby words

baking words

cooking words

2 pages of famous African Americans

camping words

The word lists are included in color and b/w. They also come in a smaller form that can be placed on a ring. I will update the word list with more themes at no cost to you after your initial purchase. You will simply download again to get the new word lists.

The word lists are also available in a "photograph" version. These can be added to your writing wall or your writing area for students to get a quick glance at your current themed words. These are only available in color.

Students will grab writing template and their writing folder and get to work. They will have resources in their folder to help them succeed. They can look at the alphabet chart to help them remember letter formation, then over at their personal word wall/dictionary for their personal word selection such as names of people in their family or their pets' name.
