List writing is an amazing self-differentiated activity to include in your writing center. Struggling writers get to practice spelling, use newly learned phonics skills, practice handwriting, and become more fluent writers in a short, non-intimidating format. At the same time, advanced writers will get to use their creative and critical thinking skills to come up with groups of related items and ideas.
Use these engaging monthly writing prompt cards in your writing center to inspire students in their list writing! Each group of prompts is organized into monthly themes- change them out every month to keep your students interested. My students are always so excited to see what their new list choices are each month, and list writing has quickly become a favorite in my writing center!
Includes 68 unique list prompts and 9 cards to label each month's set. August/September begin with simpler prompts and some picture clues to get their little minds thinking, and as the year progresses the prompts get a bit more complex and the picture clues drop down. I designed these for my first graders to be able to read them independently as the year progresses, but they will work for any age. I hope your students enjoy these as much as mine do!
