This worksheet really exercises student's brains because it forces them to come up with combinations and balance the charges on their own. First students identify cations and anions, then they have to label the charges, and finally they balance charges and write chemical formulas.
This worksheet also works well for classwork, homework or group activities. Many classes respond really well to using this as a race. Have students/groups work as fast as they can to finish the most accurately first.
This is a great worksheet to use a few days before a test or quiz. It doesn’t work as well as an after the first lecture worksheet unless you are teaching an AP or Honors Chemistry class.
