This is an easy-to-follow PowerPoint lesson on writing clear learning goals by deconstructing them for your students. It also guides your students in a step-by-step process of writing student-friendly learning scales for your learning goal. It uses Marzano's Element 1: What do I do to provide clear learning goals for my students and getting them to write student-friendly scales.
The standard I use to teach this is the very important science benchmark for all grades; Distinguishing between empirical observation and making inferences.
I don't go into teaching the difference between the two in this lesson, but the lesson does define the difference. Teaching the difference is on an upcoming lesson.
Thank you and enjoy!
