This checklist is a handy little tool I developed to help keep the students (and myself!) on track during individual student writing conferences. I use this checklist to ensure that I “cover all the bases” in a timely manner with each student. If left unchecked, I'm sure I would tend to focus mainly on spelling and grammar! I usually only cover 2-4 related teaching points with a student during a conference. This tool really helps me work with students on craft; in addition to conventions. I print one page for each student and keep them all in a “Writing Conferences” binder for quickly referencing what I’ve previously worked on with them.
