24 differentiated engaging task cards to practise writing dialogue.
Included in this pack:
24 task cards (24 coloured/colored & 24 B/W)
Student’s answer sheet
Tag sheets instead of using ‘said’
The task cards have been differentiated into yellow, orange and red. (Great for those classes which use the ‘mild, spicy and hot’ way of differentiation.)
The yellow cards are for students to practise basic speech punctuation and think about the use of a suitable tag. They could be encouraged to look at the position of the child on the task card and that would indicate whether the tag or the speech is written first.
The orange set is for increased challenge so students can now decide when to add the tag and can even include it in between the 2 things each person says. They could also include greater detail such as using adverbs and action so the reader knows what the person was doing when they said it.
The red set includes the skill of writing dialogue between 2 people. They could include the same elements which are used for the orange task cards.
Extension: Students could write the dialogue that is before and/or after what has been said on the task card and with greater narration.
Common Core aligned for Grades 3-5.
