PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The conclusion of a persuasive paragraph or essay is the writer's last chance to convince her reader of the merits of her thesis. Unfortunately, it is often the part of the work that students give the least attention. This Powerpoint lesson (with an accompanying MS Word sheet) goes over the dos and don'ts of writing an effective conclusion, and provides practice in concluding both persuasive paragraphs and essays. I have used this lesson with 7th and 8th grade students in regular, accelerated, and supported classes, and have found it engaging and effective. It generally takes one class period, with some students finishing the essay conclusion for homework. - Rae Galeazzi.
