This activity is meant to be a short student mission as part of a larger End of Year Boot Camp unit. Students receive daily letters from “The General” in order to complete missions as part of their end of year review.
Students are given snippets from 5 different conversations and are asked to use their knowledge of mathematical vocabulary to help the general crack the enemy codes in order to make and solve equations.
The “Battle Report” requires students to analyze intel given to make calculations using fractions. Students are given 3 different scenarios and are asked to use their knowledge of the multiplication of fractions to help the general learn about enemy movements, supplies and tactics.
You can use these assignments as warm ups, group activities, as a quick review or tickets out the door--the possibilities are endless!
