Product Description

20 riddles for students to read, think, write and draw. Students love these as it requires them to read and think! Each riddle is based on a February theme including groundhog's day, valentine's day, postage stamps, letters and writing, President's day and some animal facts. And did you know it is "Feed the Birds Month"... a riddle about John James Audubon and also some riddles about birds.

Students read the riddle, think of the answer; then write a sentence to answer the question. Then, the student illustrates his/her sentence. These can be used as morning seat work, homework, fast finishers, literacy center or practice in literacy skills. An answer key is included and labels for a bin if you wish to place them in your room for extra work.

Skills practiced:

  • *writing sentences
  • reading riddles and informational text
  • illustrating to show understanding

Your students will be motivated to read, think, write and draw. You will see as they look for the next riddle to solve. Encourage students to write complete and correct sentences. The reading and riddles are appropriate for grades 1 and 2, as well as homeschoolers, enrichment for Kindergarten super readers, and differentiated instruction for struggling 3rd grade readers.

Easy to use, very little preparation....just download and print!
