We all know how important giving students numerous opportunities to write can be. However, we also know that for each opportunity they have to write, we have hundreds of essays to grade! Using codes helps streamline and speed up this process, especially when the comments we leave are repeated from student to student.
This resource not only provides a “cheat-sheet” of the codes when printed and handed out to your students, but when distributed to your students online, the links lead your students to resources that will teach or review the concepts in which they struggled on the essay. This self-guided, self-paced learning feature is perfect for providing your students with differentiating writing instruction.
Included are two formats of this document. One is a PDF that can be accessed and used with ANY technology system you use. That version is included as the page 2 of this “Note to Teacher.”
The other is a fully editable Google Doc made to use with GAFE (Google Apps For Education). The link (below) will prompt you to create a Google Doc copy that you can save in your own Google Drive. You can share, distribute, and edit this in order to customize it to meet your own classroom needs. Using these codes as comments when grading essays on Google Docs speeds up the process of grading!
