Having a word wall in their writing folder is very helpful to my students. I type in the high frequency words my county requires our students to be able to read and write for first grade. I also add special words, such as days of the week, and months of the year to the empty boxes.
I teach a mini lesson on how to use this as a resource at the beginning of the year. During Writer's Workshop I write words in the boxes that my students ask how to spell. Every year my students have loved this and used it extensively.
How to Use: Use a three-hole punch and place the pages facing each other in the folder.
I left this as a word document, so that you can edit as needed.
*The preview shows part of the second page on the first page. This is not how it appears in my document, and it's a Word document so you can move it.
