I use this with my students to help them brainstorm a personal goal for their writing. Suggestions include: Use finger spaces. Use my personal word wall words. Use a capital letter to start my sentence. Use punctuation marks to end my sentence. Add details to my writing. Etc... Of course I always leave room for students who come up with their own personal writing goal! Students go back and reflect on their previous writing. I ask students to pick 1 goal that they really want to focus on and improve in their writing. I then give each student a sticker with their name on it. They come and put their sticker next to their personal goal. We revisit this and assess our progress in achieving the goal.
