This includes two posters that can be used to give students personalized goals during writing. It includes two versions, but can also be edited to fit your class's needs. You can keep this poster on the SMART Board during writing with each students picture in the section of his/her goal that they are working on. For example, if a student needs to remember to write with lowercase letters then his/her picture is placed in the bottom row of the poster, where it says "use lowercase letters."
In my class, I have a printed copy of the goal poster with students' pictures. As I am conferencing with students I check to see if they completed their personal goal independently. If they do, then I put a tally mark next to their pictures. If they get 5 tally marks then they move onto another goal. :)
It is a quick and easy way to track student progress and set clear, differentiated writing goals.
