This interactive Powerpoint will allow your students to independently practice writing Grade 1 high frequency words in context. It contains 60 sentences which students listen to, write down and then check, all on their own. It starts with sentences using the the most basic high frequency words such as "I am a boy." and by the end of the presentation has moved on to sentences such as "They said all the girls went back home so we went there too."
Students click on the right cursor to listen to the sentence. They may listen to it as often as they like but clicking on the left cursor and then the right cursor again. They write down the sentence, then click on the right cursor again. The first click will make a writing icon appear, just in case they forgot to write down the sentence before checking. The second click on the right cursor will make the sentence appear and they can see if they are correct and fix any mistakes. Once they have finished a sentence they move on to the next one by clicking on the right cursor.
It is also possible to differentiate by using the "custom shows" feature:
- click on the "slide show" menu.
- click on "new".
- choose the slides you want for a particular student
- name your new "custom show" and click "ok", then "close". You are done.
- to open your custom show click on the "slide show" menu, then "custom show", then the name of the show you want to open.
It can also be used as homework - simply e-mail a copy home.
This PowerPoint works very well in combination with my other 2 sight word products:
