This writing and grammar assessment is a great diagnostic tool to be used as a formal assessment, group task, or open-resource activity. Opt to first use as formal assessment and later as a study guide/review. Question types vary from multiple choice, to written response, to circling/underline, to essay response, and as such, is a great indicator of English skill level. Test results easily demonstrate a student's mastery of language skills, and can be used to support placement.
The test is set up to total 100 points (70 pts questions, 30 pts essay), clearly stating point value of each question. Answer key and essay rubric included. Grading and points earned is at the discretion of the teacher. When photocopying, point values can be adjusted with whiteout and pen. Answer key included. For best results, print with 1'' margins.

-Part 2 Grammar: parts of speech, simple present/past, present/past continuous, sentence subjects, independent/dependent clauses, gerunds, comparatives/superlatives, time clauses, infinitive verbs, complete vs. fragmented sentences, used to
-Part 3 Formats and Structures: Find 3 MLA format mistakes, circle 3 positive writing strategies
-Part 4 Open Response: answer questions about complete sentences, topic sentence, thesis statement, outlines, and writing organization
-Part 4 Writing: Write a 4 paragraph compare and contrast essay on one of three topic choices
Test was designed to be used in ESL/EFL/IEP/Adult/International classrooms as a means of evaluating language level skill set. I have used this as a semester final exam, as well as, a course diagnostic exam.
