Description

This writing graphic organizers resource will provide you with every text organizer you will need for the whole year. Over 30 different genres of writing graphic organizers are included in this resource to help your students organize their ideas and provide the needed scaffolding required during the writing process.

Students can use these posters to demonstrate their understanding of the different writing forms and help them plan their writing pieces. They can be used as an assessment for learning (as a diagnostic activity to see what knowledge your students are bringing to a writing form), assessment as learning (as a formative assessment during the planning part of the writing process), or as assessment of learning (as a summative task at the end of their planning).

These posters aren’t your standard writing graphic organizers. Rather, they get the students thinking about the writing form and the ideas and details they will include through questions and reflections.

Teachers could have all students complete the same poster as a particular writing form is studied, or have them available at writing centers or as part of a writing workshop.

These posters make a GREAT sub day activity, needing little to no prep for you or the sub. They would also make a great addition to your writing notebooks or journals.

Posters are in black and white and are easy to reproduce. Students are encourage to add visual appeal to the posters by adding color and creativity.

A rubric is also included for summative or formative assessment. I have also made a student self-reflection checklist for students to use prior to handing in their planning posters.

I have also included a poster without a concept title in case you want to add a writing form or concept that is not covered in this resource.

Completed posters will make a fabulous bulletin board display

that both students and teachers will be proud of!

These posters pair nicely with my Writing Reflection Fans to help your students journey through the writing process.

*** This resource is also included in my HUGE 4th - 6th Grade Essentials Bundle containing 20 of my best classroom resources.
