After teaching my kids how to efficiently plan their writing for an assigned prompt and how to start their writing with a bold beginning (see my store for products), I then focus on "the meat." Sorry to any vegetarians I may offend - this is just about writing the body of a story to match the caliber of the intro. In this PowerPoint, I show students how it compares to have a great sesame seed bun and then rotten or missing meat in the middle. It's disappointing! Throughout this one-day lesson, I show the kids several ways to make sure their "meat" matches their fantastic intro - using transition words, descriptive vocabulary, and guidelines as to how to translate their plot maps into a written story (sentence amount suggestions, etc.) Enjoy!
