Writing Introductions and conclusions to essays can be difficult. Every semester, no matter how many lessons I use to show my students what good introductions and conclusions look like, they still struggle. Exit ticket after exit ticket asks for more help with intros and conclusions. So, I made these exercises to give them more practice.

(This lesson is an introduction. If you want a more in-depth lesson on intros and conclusions click here).

In this package you will find information on basic strategies that students can use to write introductions and conclusions. The practice sheets follow a gradual release model: the handout shows them examples, the first exercise give students the first few sentences of the paragraph to nudge them on their way, and then the second ones have the thesis only. I have also included some blank sheets so you or the students can personalize this for particular assignments.
