Product Description
Many students have difficulty writing introductions that don't just "announce" their topic: "I am going to tell you about...", or "My topic is ...".

These lessons provide a resource for students to use that offers eight different ideas to "hook" their reader's attention. In addition, students are provided with a guide for understanding the difference between a topic idea and a focused thesis sentence. Also included is a student activity sheet to practice writing effective introductions.

(These guidelines can also be used to write effective introductions for formal speeches.)

Included:
-Teacher's Guide
-Student Reference Guide "The Hook"
-Student Reference Guide "The Thesis"
-Student Practice Activity

A PowerPoint slideshow with the "Hook" guidelines is also available separately: "Writing Introductions: The Hook" PowerPoint
