Journal prompts are a great way to get kids writing, and this list of topics offers many fun choices! Have students chose a prompt, check off the box, and start writing! This activity can be done as a bell ringer, during independent work time, or whenever you see fit! Also included is a sheet called “My Writing Ideas” so that you can encourage your students to always be on the lookout for their own writing ideas as they go throughout their week. They can record their ideas on the lines and chose one of these ideas as an option during journal writing time. These pages can be stapled (or double-sided taped) into the inside covers of a spiral notebook (journal) – one in the front and one in the back.
This resource includes:
- One page of 46 journal prompts
- One page for students to list their own journal writing ideas
