Journal writing is one of the most effective ways to improve students' writing skills, and this writing journal is the ideal book for it. This is a beautifully designed writing journal, complete with a choice of TWO front covers and a back cover, that you can print for your students in color or black and white. If you have the means to print this in color, it is absolutely gorgeous – a book your students will cherish! But even in black and white, this is a unique journal.
What makes it unique are the prompts. These aren’t your pedestrian writing prompts, such as “My Summer Vacation” or “My Most Embarrassing Moment.” Instead, each page offers a thought or philosophy about life, which will inspire your students to think critically – about themselves and the lives around them. Each prompt also asks a question or two (or three) that inspires further thinking and guides them on their writing path.
There are thirty pages of prompts, which are in different colors for additional aesthetic value. I also supply a Teacher’s Note with various suggestions on how to use this journal. You can use the journal either as part of your class daily routine (allotting a half hour each day for journal writing), as a once-a-week assignment, at random times, or as a homework assignment. Also great for substitute teachers -- allows for quality quiet time.
--Organization of thoughts
I believe this journal can serve students of many grade levels, ranging from 3rd all the way up to 9th grade. Obviously, older students will produce a better quality of work and will think about the ideas in more sophisticated terms, but this journal can definitely be enjoyed and used effectively by younger children, too.
I hope and am confident that this journal will be loved by your students. Please do let me know how it went in your classroom. I appreciate feedback tremendously. Thank you!
