There are many ways to use a jotting journal in your classroom, but here is how I use mine!
-Print front to back, flipping on the short side. This pack includes two different covers, choose one for your class, boys/girls/however you want.
-Copy 2 to 2 sided, with a two staples in the top (short side) if your copy machine will let you.
- Explain what it means to jot something down! This will make it so much more fun for your kiddos, and they learn a new vocab word.
Give your kiddos 3-5 minutes to draw a picture.
Starting off slow, have students write for three minutes, as they build stamina, make it a longer amount of time. My students made it up to 15 minutes a day with very little teacher direction by doing this each day.
It’s always fun to keep their first journals, and compare them to their last journals too!
