Resource Prep: Choose cover you would like for classroom book and print it on cardstock or regular copy paper (you could use colored paper with the black and white copy provided). Copy monthly pages for students on regular copy paper. Booklets include cover, plain piece of cardstock or copy paper for back cover and the monthly pages are inserted between the two covers. Either staple or bind the booklet pages together.
Make booklets for the year for each student before school begins or have a parent helper put them together the first few weeks of school so they will be ready to use each month. You can use colored ink or use the black and white copy that are provided in the resource.
Special Idea: Sometime during the school year make another cover for each student on cardstock and in color. Take photos of your students and place their photo in the star or square. Laminate the cover and a plain white sheet of cardstock for the back of the booklet for each student. At the end of the school year staple on the new cover and back page of their booklet and send it home at the end of the school year as a keepsake for parents!

The students write down their thoughts about the month and then draw a picture in the space provided that relates to their writing.
At the end of the school year have your students evaluate and look at how their writing has changed throughout the school year. It is always fun and interesting to look back and see what adventures you have done throughout the year.
Kids have some writing fun while writing about their monthly adventures throughout the school year!
