This interactive digital notebook (Google Slides) covers the different types of leads in nonfiction writing (with an emphasis on argument).
It’s geared toward middle school, so the language describing the leads is clear and concise.
The types of leads covered are Direct, Question, Statistical, Narrative, Quotation, and Combination.
I give short examples of each type of lead with an argument essay about violent video games (something middle school boys will find interesting).
At the end, students will try out two types of leads using an essay on which they are currently working.
* This product is best completed digitally, but it is set up for printing if needed. I have included the PDF for that purpose.
