This product is similar to my other product called Writing Linear Equations from Word Problems Step-by-Step. This product using a tabular graphic organizer to help students develop the equations representing the word problem situation. All of the equations will have a y-intercept and a slope.
The other product, Writing Linear Equations from Word Problems Step-by-Step, uses questioning to help the students develop the equations instead of tabular calculations. You may choose between the two products or use both. Some students can see the equation developing using one worksheet better than the other.
This worksheet has 8 problems and an example problem. They are written with student-friendly concepts.
The product is scaffolded. These are the levels of scaffolding:
1) An example is provided.
2) For some problems, a table with headings and operatives (+,-,x./) is provided.
3) For some problems, tables are included but without the operatives.
4) For some problems, tables are included but without the headings and the operatives.
5) No table is provided.
The answer key is included.
This product may also be used as an introduction to writing equations, leaving some problems for making posters from. The posters could include the word problem, table of information, a graph, and the equation.
