Fun Writing with Food: A Descriptive Writing Unit

    Description

This WRITING MEGA BUNDLE includes everything you need to teach writing - complete writing units for each genre of writing, monthly writing activities to use in centers, and paragraph writing practice across content areas.

Narrative, Opinion, and Informative Writing Units:

    • standards-based, detailed lesson plans
    • pre-made anchor charts in full color and black & white
    • graphic organizers and student printables (can be printed at 80% for interactive notebooks)
    • teacher examples
    • mentor text suggestions
    • publishing papers
    • ...and more!

Guide your students through the entire writing process for all three genres of writing - narrative, opinion, and informative!

    Common Core Writing Activities:

This product was designed to give students an opportunity to practice all 3 types of Common Core Writing: Opinion, Informative/Explanatory, Narrative, PLUS Shared Research Writing (also in the Common Core Writing Standards and often overlooked). Your students can write one piece per week OR you can pick and choose writing pieces based on your students' needs or, even better, let the students choose!

These activities will not "teach" the types of writing, but will merely give the students practice with each type of writing each month with a themed approach and real-life writing activities, many of which are cross-curricular integrating science and social studies concepts. The Common Core Standards focus on preparing our kids for the real world and these authentic writing pieces will do just that! They are aligned to Common Core Writing Standards for Grades 1-4. They are PERFECT to use in Writing Centers!

For more detailed information, you can check out my blog post {HERE}.

Perfect Paragraphs: One Step at a Time:

This product is designed to help primary students write perfect paragraphs with five main parts: an introduction, three details or reasons, and a closing statement. The students are asked to complete the parts in a step-by-step approach in a logical order that makes sense and is easy for students to grasp. They will also review and discuss their peers’ writing and provide feedback for revising and editing.

These activities can be completed as morning work, homework, early finisher activities, part of your writing block, cross-curricular writing, or any time as needed to reinforce the structure of writing a paragraph.

The layout of this series will be similar each month so that the students can find a familiar format in which to write. My hope is that your students’ writing will improve by providing an easy, simple, step-by-step approach that ANY student can complete. Each month offers 2 seasonal paragraphs and 2 generic paragraphs that can be used at any time of year. All packs include narrative, opinion, and informative/explanatory paragraphs.
