CCSS ask students to present their mathematical thinking in three different ways - with pictures, with numbers, and in writing. Helping young children do this through hands-on work with math manipulatives is one of my favourite math tasks to work on! The bears or cars or dinosaurs are all over the tables, the oral language skills are growing by leaps and bounds, and CCSS mathematical practice standards are in full swing.
All worksheets ask students to draw a picture.
Some worksheets ask students to either write a word sentence or a number sentence as well. This allows for isolated practice of that skill, in relation to their number story. (Swirly borders or Star borders)
Cumulative worksheets ask students to use all three methods to show their work. (Swirly/Star borders)
Worksheets are presented in a variety of ways to fit Teacher preferences.
