Product Description
Poetry Writing! Challenge your class to write a memory poem. A powerpoint presentation includes short video examples of poems to ignite images from the past in students’ minds. Slides take them through the steps of writing a “hunk of stone”, working with pairs or groups of three to read the first draft, rewriting and submitting the final poem. A rubric for poetry and an exit pass are included. Students may share their final poem with the class during Author’s Chair.

The poetry writing could be a long block period of time or short periods of time over three days.

Teachers may opt to allow time at the end of the unit for Author’s Chair when class members who want to share may read their poems.

Writing Memory Poetry includes:
Powerpoint presentation
Hyperlinks for videos
Class directions for composition
Class suggestions for small group reading
Rewriting first draft
Poetry Rubric
Exit Pass
