Here is a creative way to incorporate Christmas Carols into your Language Arts class! With such a focus on text evidence and writing about reading, this is an excellent project for students to use what they know about text to create an original work.
In this activity, students read an analyze a carol for poetic elements and content. Then, they use the carol as a jumping off point to write an original narrative. The students will make inferences as they develop a character, setting, and plot based on the carol and what they think was happening to the person who wrote it.
In addition to being a fun Christmas project, you can use this as an assessment for any and all writing skills!
