This is a peer editing guide that I use with my students. It is designed to focus students as they look for a thesis, topic sentences, textual support, correct grammar/mechanics, MLA format, developed paragraphs, etc.
This is useful with the Common Core as it demands more analytical writing. It is not overly complicated, and it gives student writers good, focused feedback on their work. It can work with shorter essays or longer research papers as well. I have used it with persuasive writing, expository essays, compare/contrast writing, writing test practice, and more.
