Build a community of learners who know each other from sharing these stories. Learn how to set up an effective memoir/personal narrative unit that teaches students to write well while honoring who they are and where they come from. This short but thorough guide will give many activities that you can emulate to plan a dynamic personal narrative unit while meeting the Common Core State Standards in narrative writing. This guide contains a premade rubric for middle school students and access to grade level rubrics for persuasive in grades one to five. Three samples of student writing at middle school level are also given.
