Students as writers. Add these 18 colorful mini writing posters to your classroom to remind your students that they ARE writers. Pick and choose the mini writing posters that best fit the needs of your students and goals.
Copy the mini posters and cut them in half. There are two mini posters per page. Create a bulletin board with the mini posters to remind students they are writers. Pass out the mini posters to students and have them role play what being a writer looks like and sounds. Keep a set of the mini posters available during small group instruction to point out positive writing behaviors or to support learners. Use the posters to anchor in good habits of mind when students are writing.
May all your students think like writers!
In this download, you will find two different versions of the mini posters.
-Black and white version (print on colored cardstock/paper)
A writing anchor mat is included in this download. On the anchor mat, students can collect ideas and reminders about sentence structure, organization, voice, word choice/rich language, hooks and endings, and ways to overcome writer’s block. I encourage students to fill out the anchor mats using pictures, symbols, and words. Students can fill out the sections using their prior knowledge, small group discussions, as well as information learned during instruction. Students can use the anchor mat as a reference sheet and add to it as new ideas are collected.
Also included in this download is an I Am a Writer checklist that students can keep in their writing folder or use as a reflection piece. Mini posters relate to the items listed on the checklist.
