This is a simple scaffolded writing assessment to help students prepare for the NYS Spanish LOTE exam. The first page has a list of high frequency phrases that students can refer to as sentence starters. The second page has a slightly modified Regents writing rubric.
Use this as a warm-up, main activity, journal entry, or exit ticket. For students with less writing experience, you may want to scaffold further by generating a list of helpful vocab words on the board before digging into the writing activity. You may also want to demonstrate how to use the sentence starters with the vocab you have generated. For more advanced students, I recommend setting a time limit of 10-20 minutes.
