Before asking students to form an opinion piece, here's a colorful power point to get them started. This power point defines an opinion piece while asking for reasons why one might write one. Students are then asked to brainstorm ideas to support their opinions and to give examples to support their thinking. Finally, students are to write their opinion piece in multiple paragraphs and proof read what they write.
I hope your students will find this and other products from Catch My Products (formerly Gifted and Talented Materials by Joyce Lansky) helpful in their writing endeavors.
