This file contains a color poster of the steps to the writing process, a b&w version for students to keep in their writing folder, and a tracking sheet where students can track the each step in the writing process (either by writing the date each time they work on a step, or just by checking off a step when it is completed).
Our students use different color pens for each draft (blue for first draft, red for editing, black for second draft, and pencil for the final published piece), and those colors are listed on the chart.
Also listed under the revision step is "A wish and a star". As students peer edit, the person reading the work is supposed to list a wish (something they wish the writer had included) and a star (something they think the writer did very well).
