This short lesson guides students through the gradual release process to guide them in writing basic "How to" directions. After introducing the skill through an "I can" statement, common core standards, and a tie in to past learning, the teacher will model directions for how to play with pixie sticks. Next, the teacher and students will write basic directions on how to make a peanut butter sandwich. After that, students team up with a partner to discuss how to clean a bedroom. In the end, students will write directions on how to go down a slide.
